The Abatement Specialties Management Team and Professional Experience
David Bloss: President and Owner
David has been involved in the environment services industry for the past 20 years.
Mr. Bloss was an Illinois State licensed Project Manager, Air Sampling Professional and Inspector with 20 years experience in managing asbestos abatement projects and building inspections. In addition he has estimated AHERA (Asbestos Hazardous Emergency Response Act) and NESHAPS (National Emission Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants) projects, performed hazardous waste remediation and conducted environmental site assessments.
Mr. Bloss specializes in environmental related projects including asbestos abatement, lead abatement, hazardous waste remediation, environmental audits and underground tank management. He possesses 20 years of experience in asbestos abatement including inspections, building surveys, bulk sampling, cost estimation, preparation of contract documents and specifications, construction observation, and air sampling. He is very knowledgeable of DNR (Department of Natural Resources), IDPH (Illinois Department of Public Health) and USEPA requirements and protocols for asbestos abatement projects.
Mr. Bloss specializes in the inspection, planning, design and remedial abatement of hazardous materials projects, especially asbestos and lead paint abatement. He has been involved in abatement projects from start to finish. He is very proficient at conducting field inspections, identifying hazardous material conditions, developing and implementing sampling plans, developing cost effective abatement alternatives, preparing abatement plans and specifications, and assisting the owner with contractor selection. He thoroughly understands abatement construction and represents the owner in the field to assure conformance with the plans and specifications. He is also very experienced in developing construction phasing plans to maintaining existing facility operations while abatement is taking place.
Mr. Bloss was responsible for industrial, commercial and AHERA-regulated asbestos abatement projects. In addition, he has planned and estimated both AHERA and NESHAPS projects, performed duties as site safety officer and supervised lead remediation projects. Collected both air and bulk lead samples. He has served as asbestos project manager on numerous abatement assignments.
Denzel Thornburg: Vice President of Operations
Denzel has 23 years of experience in the asbestos abatement industry while holding licenses in several states. He has managed projects from private homes to multi-million dollar renovation projects.
Mr. Thornburg specializes in environmental related projects including asbestos abatement, lead abatement, mold remediation and has an extensive background in the installation of fire stopping. He is proficient in asbestos abatement including inspections, building surveys, bulk sampling, cost estimation and is very knowledgeable of IDPH (Illinois Department of Public Health), USEPA and the DNR (Department of Natural Resources) requirements and protocols for asbestos abatement projects.
Mr. Thornburg has preformed lead based paint assessments and remediation in Iowa and Illinois and is proficient in identifying and development of remediation plans as well as supervisor for remediation projects.
He has preformed mold remediation projects for the public and private sectors throughout Iowa and Illinois. Mr. Thornburg has been trained in the identification and remediation of mold and mold related hazards.
Mr. Thornburg has extensive knowledge of the construction of buildings and building codes requiring fire stopping to protect the integrity of fire walls within the structure. He has inspected buildings and installed the necessary fire stopping to bring buildings in compliance with the current codes.
Tom Meis: Sales
Tom Meis has been in construction for over 20 years. Tom specializes in sales and marketing for Abatement Specialties with an emphasis on customer service. Tom has served many important clients and has established strong relationships with them. Tom has the construction knowledge, ability and experience to develop and maintain strong business relationships with all of Abatement Specialties' customers.
